Feeling is not decoration.

PIKE is Peik Jäntti, a singer from Tampere making Finnish-language pop. The songs run from carefree party tracks to honest, personal moments: one artist, many moods. Underneath there is the energy of his DJ roots and the pull of the dancefloor, but also room to slow down and say things straight. PIKE does not build a distant artist myth; he tells things in a way that feels close. A new name as a solo artist project, but not a new face on stage.

SUVI SULOINEN

The idea started with me: I wanted to do something with the familiar Finnish summer hymn (hymn 571, Jo joutui armas aika). Levi-Äijä and I took it forward, and he wanted to make it his own, rewriting the lyrics and the structure. The result is a rebuilt, modern version of an old classic, with me featuring on vocals.

Miljoonat tahtoo sua

The idea came from my own experiences and from relationships I watched from the side. I wrote this from the bystander's seat: what it feels like to be deeply smitten and still completely invisible. The narrator would do almost anything, yet the other pours their feelings into the wrong people and never notices the real presence beside them, until there is no choice but to move on. At heart it is about fast dating culture, where chasing greener grass means missing the ones who truly care.

Ratakana

The idea and most of the lyrics are mine; the track was made together with Hra Pulu, DOMIVIIO and Melumaria. Ratakana is pure, shameless satire that dives into self-aware corniness and raunch without a hint of embarrassment. At its centre is the eternal player of any gender, and a party cycle that never breaks. Tongue firmly in cheek, but dead serious on the floor.

Mä putoan

This one was born behind the DJ decks. I started mashing Yölintu's "Mä putoan" together with Pendulum's "Watercolour" in my sets, and that combination stuck in my head so hard I could not let it go. I told Levi-Äijä about the idea, and he produced our own version of it, a tribute to the old "Mä putoan". It grew into one of my most-streamed songs and the starting shot for the whole name PIKE.

PIKE was built in the background, and that is exactly where the experience came from. For years Peik Jäntti worked as a backing DJ and singer for Finnish artist Jontte Valosaari, part of the crew that played Finland’s biggest festivals, arenas and even the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, performed on television, and stood in front of crowds of tens of thousands. He was also part of the Rähinä Live lineup, playing its nights at the Helsinki venue Nosturi over several years, and one of the team behind Jontte Valosaari and Elastinen’s ”Jos mä oisin sun mies”, a hit that cleared the Finnish platinum threshold. He was never the one in the spotlight but the one just beside it, and that is what taught him what performing really demands. When PIKE finally stepped out under his own name, all of that stage instinct came with him, only now at the front and in his own voice, on the principle that feeling is not decoration but the starting point.
